A walk on the dykes of Zingst

On the peninsula of the Baltic Sea “Fischland-Darss-Zingst” you find the small town Zingst which warmly welcomes the rest-destitute holiday guest with its sleepy romanticism. The healthy climate and the aromatic sea air make the former fishing place to an approved sea medicinal resort where you can undertake everything to recover and, besides, explore the marvellous surroundings.

A flat, a holiday apartment or a hotel in Zingst are a place of departure for refreshing wanderings, restful bicycle tours or romantic walks on the 14-metre-high dyke which was constructed for the protection of the place after the Baltic floodwaters of 1872. With these excursions you can visit the Pramort, an observation point for cranes, or maunder through the forest Osterwald which is rich of games.

Rests of a Slavic castle embankment are to be visited – nothing concludes that not so long ago still a military base of the NVA was settled here from which even rockets have been started. You should absolutely visit the bridge “Meiningenbrücke”, an old railway swing-bridge which is used today for the motor traffic.

An excursion to the Peter´s Paul Church or to the chapel of Bonhoeffer is interesting and informative. At your hotel, your summer cottage or your pension you will be warmly received. You will be spoiled by country and people with friendliness and will afford a miraculous, restful holiday in the midst of sea air and dykes.
