The Ziller Valley - the heart of the Tyrolean mountains

The Ziller Valley is a valley in the Austrian province of Tyrol. The Ziller Valley, with Mayrhofen as its center, has been a very popular vacation region for decades. The magnificent background of the up to 3500 meter high Zillertal Alps, the beautiful, large mountain forests, the many mountain pastures and the almost pritine Tyrolean flair draw tourists from all over the world here all year long.

They appreciate the first class cross-country and alpine skiing runs in winter and the well developed mountain hiking routes during the rest of the year. Many hotels, pensions and vacation apartments make sure of excellent accommodations during your vacation.

The Ziller Valley’s main attraction are the mountains surrounding it. The Hintertux Glacier stretches across the mountains at the end of the Ziller Valley and is visited throughout the year by winter athletes and hikers.
From the 1800 meter high Penken, Mayrhofen’s local mountain, you will have a magnificent view of the entire Ziller Valley.

Many events take place in this region during the entire year. The most famous event is probably the driving of the cattle down from the mountain pastures in autumn.

From Mayrhofen the historic Zillertahlbahn runs to Jenbach, which lies at the beginning of the valley. From there, there are good connections to the city of Innsbruck.
