The Kastnerturm situated in the centre is more than 1,000 years old and therefore the oldest still preserved building of this town. In its rooms today you find the town museum with an exposition of the history of the place.

The parish church “zum Heiligen Hippolyt”, built in the Romanesque architectural style with worth seeing altar and other inside located places of interest, commands with its 36-metre-high tower the townscape. Moreover, worthwhile is a visit of the just 2,000 metre high Schmittenhöhe. This can be scaled by foot as well as comfortably with a cable railway.

From the summit of this mountain you have a splendid view of the Saalachtal and the surrounding mountain groups.
