Wolfsburg - The car city at the Midland canal

The city Wolfsburg, situated in the east of Lower Saxony, looks back on a rather young past. In 1938 it was founded, in connection with the Volkswagen production plants. Numerous constructions of the town carry the manuscript of the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Among the rest he planned the city hall as well as the Holy Ghost Church.

Numerous holiday apartments and hotels invite the guests to an excursion through Wolfsburg. With the "car-city" the VW group created an experience park of a special kind. Visitors can follow the history of the automobiles and marvel at a Bugatti Atlantique as an attraction which was produced worldwide only twice.

Landmark of Wolfsburg is at the same time the oldest building of the town, the castle Schloss Wolfsburg of the 13th century, former domicile of the nobility of Bartensleben. The heart of the modern big city is the street “Porschestrasse” which was reshaped as a pedestrian area. Watercourses and rest areas mix up the face of the shopping mile.

During a stay in a holiday apartment, a pension or at a hotel in Wolfsburg, you should visit the science museum "pheano". On the basis of 250 interactive stations technology and natural sciences are shown fascinating and understandable.

In the district Fallersleben the cradle of the most important son of the city, August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben is in the spotlight. The museum, in the Renaissance castle, put a monument to the author of the German national monument.
