The Visayas - islands with magnificent nature and friendly hosts

The Visayas are among to the three big island groups of the Philippines and are situated in the centre of the island state, between Luzon and Mindanao. They split in three further regions and have several main islands like Cebu with the neighbouring island Bohol, Negros or Panay.

In the external East you will find Masbate. The big island group Palawan was assigned to the Visayas only few years ago. It is located far apart of the western Sulusee. The Visayas are convincing with a miraculous tropical fauna, very friendly, open inhabitants and enchanting, endless sandy beaches. To get to know the beauty of these islands, excursions or "Inselhopping" are most suitable.

Lodgings will be found in modern hotels, small, typically for country furnished motels or easy company houses directly at the beach. The nicest places of interest are the colonial Old Town of Cebu-city, the world-renowned "Chocolate-Hills" on Bohol and the submerged coral gardens at Libertad on Antique.

Numerous national parks with a magnificent nature and underwater world invite traveller and diver equally. Particularly Palawan with its 1786 islands impresses with rare animal- and botanical species, subterranean rivers and hidden fjords.

In front of the southern coast you find the coral reef Tubbahata. The nicest beaches and hotels are on the favoured resort island Boracay.
