Vaduz- a small city with great charm

Vaduz is the capital of the country of Liechtenstein. The small, independent principality lies in the Alps and is surrounded by Switzerland and Austria.

Vaduz is an important European financial center and the cultural and government center of the country.
Liechtenstein’s landmark stands above the city, the medieval castle in which the sovereign family resides. The main tower, which rises well-fortified out of the building complex, was already built in the 11th century.

Vaduz has a population of ca. 5,200 and is a lively and interesting place which draws many tourists to a short visit. The city can be reached easily and is only about 230 kilometers away from Munich. Several hotels offer nice rooms or apartments.
The historic Old Town has a very special charm and is very inviting with all its street cafes, boutiques and noble restaurants.

Small but nice museums also invite you to a visit during your stay in Vaduz. An absolute must for philatelists are the post office and the popular stamp museum. The art museum is of international rank and known for its special architecture. The baronial court wine cellars are also worth seeing.

Not far from the city you will find a large hiking region which leads to Triesenberg. Places such as Malbun and Steg with their excellent skiing regions and many cross-country skiing runs are well known to friends of winter sports.
