The US State of Utah is famous for its scenic beauty and its friendly inhabitants. 
The capital, Salt Lake City, directly on the shore of the Great Salt Lake and at the foot of the protective Wasatch Mountains, has a population of around 178,000 and about 1 million in its entire metropolitan area, which makes up almost half of the State’s population.

Salt Lake City belongs to Utah’s 14 large skiing regions and hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics.

The conditions for skiers and snowboarders are ideal here, as the winters are very cold and bring much snow. In the hot summers, the Great Salt Lake especially attracts many sailers.

Utah’s awesome nature, which created spectacular rock formations in many colors, is protected in 5 large national parks and 6 national monuments. The “Zion National Park” and “Bryce Canyon” are the two most visited parks of the State. But also the “Arches”, “Capitol Reef” and the “Canyon Lands” are worth a visit.

„Monument Valley” is administered as a private park. It is an absolute must to explore these grand mountains, rivers and lakes and to find out about their history. Tourists will find accommodations especially at large ranches, natural camping grounds or in small hotels and lodges. In the skiing regions, there are large hotel resorts and chalets. Along the highways, you will find motels.
