Truckee – a panorama view on the Californian Sierra Nevada

Truckee is a tranquil place in the Northwest of the beautiful Lake Tahoe in the US State California. The for Europeans peculiar sounding name of the city comes from the name of the River Truckee, which arises in the South of the Lake Tahoe and which opens out into the Lake Pyramid after 187 km.

At a height of about 2200 m above sea level, almost all hotels, holiday flats and motels of the city and the direct surrounding possess a wonderful view to the mountain range of the Californian Sierra Nevada. The possibilities to spend the holidays in Truckee are almost unlimited. Here you can relax from the everyday life or you can be active. 

You can choose between different sport activities, of course skiing and snowboarding in the winter but also mountain biking, golf, canoeing, riding and water skiing in the summer.

People who like to hike will be enthused from the beautiful and varied nature of the Californian Sierra Nevada. If this is not enough, you can explore the surrounding area with an American hired car.

If this is nothing for you, we advise you to visit the train station of Truckee. Originally Truckee was founded as railway city in the year 1863.
