Surrey - County, Jamaica

When you hear Jamaica, you think of wonderful, long, white sand beaches and palm trees. You think of rum, the colorful knitted caps, of Bob Marley, reggae and Rasta men, of light-heartedness.

The most east and smallest county in Jamaica is Surrey; it is subdivided into districts and parishes. Kingston is the capital of Jamaica; this lively city, which seems to never sleep, is a metropolis and tempts you to shopping and to visiting museums; the Bob Marley museum is also worth seeing.

Previously, Jamaica was something for freaks and pathfinders, now it has established itself and become a popular vacation destination. The hotels and motels comply with European standards. Surrey County appeals to many Jamaica vacationers; extensive fruit plantations, banana trees and huge breadfruit trees form the landscape.

Well asphalted streets can be found, just as well as badly constructed streets or no streets at all. The unique, impressive nature scenery, which ensures wonderful memories, compensates for that though. Picturesque, sleepy towns, whose architecture still partially reminds one of the colonial times, and paltry huts lie bedded in sometimes still pristine nature.

Surrey County is something for individualists who are looking for contrasts far away from mass tourism.
