St. Petersburg- Northern Venice

St. Petersburg has, as second largest town of Russia, developed to a metropolis which is brilliant at being incredibly open. This is already the first point which argues for a holiday apartment, a flat or a hotel in St. Petersburg. The town was created according to western model by Peter the Great. From 18th till the 20th century St. Petersburg was the capital of the Russian empire.

Today a centre in the baroque-classicistic style which is recognised as a cultural heritage of UNESCO can be admired. Only therefore St. Petersburg has earned to be a place among the nicest towns of Europe. You can reach the town by air-, by country- and by water way and has not only an own airport for incoming airplanes.

With St. Petersburg, also ships can reach the most important Baltic Sea harbour of Russia. Experts connect the city name with theatre, ballet and chess. In the mater of places of interest you will find anything for every taste. The main focus of a traveller with interest in culture might be levelled at the Hermitage Museum, probably the most important and most visited art museum of the world.

Among other things the absolute centre of attraction of the Hermitage is the worldwide biggest jewel collection. Beside the sight of the breathtaking cathedrals, churches, parks and gardens, as well as the charming hotels, pensions and holiday apartments, a visit should also be paid to the palace “Katharinenpalast” in which the legendary amber room is open to the public.
