South Moravia and Beskid - Initial landscapes with long traditions

Nature aficionados and people interested in culture will find a pristine landscape full of character, charm and individuality in South Moravia and the Beskids. A popular destination for hikers in South Moravia are the Punkva Caves, the largest cave system in the Czech Republic.

The steep faces of the Macocha Gorge fall into the depths for 139 metres. Near the abyss there is a terrace from where you have a breathtaking view. Tourists suffering from vertigo can also approach the gorge by boat on the subterranean River Punkva.

The historical centre of South Moravia is Brno. The fortress of Spilberk looks back on a changeful past and is today a popular meeting point for locals and guests. Those spending their holidays in a holiday home, a holiday flat or a hotel in South Moravia should pay a visit to Telc. Time seems to stand still in the streets of this medieval town. The Beskids are the westernmost foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. The highest mountain is the Lysa hova with a height of 1323 metres. The mountains are closely linked to the traditions of the pastoral tribe of the Vlachs. The open-air museum in Roznov gives an impression of their life and culture. For more than 100 years, the Baskids have also been considered as winter sports centre in Czechia. Hikers and climbers also get their money worth during a holiday in the Beskides.
