Berlin Schöneberg - Between Kennedy and KaDeWe

Berlin Schoeneberg, located south of Charlottenburg and east of Wilmersdorf, used to be an independent district until its fusion with Tempelhof in 2000.  The name Schoeneberg is connected inseparably to the man who, in 1963, stood together with Willy Brandt in front of the Schoenberg City Hall and in his moving speech said the words "Ich bin ein Berliner".

A memorial plaque commemorates John F. Kennedy, the great statesman. Until the German reunification, the Schoeneberg City Hall was the official residence of the government, and today the liberty bell still rings every midday from the city hall tower.
