Saone-et-Loire in the Burgundy region – meeting point for the youth of the world

The 71st department Saone-et-Loire in France compasses an area of more than 8,000 square kilometers und is conducted by the prefecture Macon. Situated in the Eastern part of France the region is housing some extremely interesting places for a visit. In cities like Cuisery, Charolles, Le Creusot or Autun there is a multifaceted choice of hotels and vacation homes for every purse.

Wallowers of the famous French cuisine are indulged culinary at restaurants, cafés or in one of the cozy bistros. The abbey of Cluny is among the well-known places for a visit. It was founded in the year 910 as a Benedictine cloister by the duke of Aquitaine. In the middle age this place -which had the largest church of the Christianity for a while -   was origin of many denotative reforms.

In the course of the French revolution several premises of the cloister have been destroyed. Many of the old walls have been preserved for the posterity, whereby the erstwhile  dimensions of the former cloister complex can be imagined.

Further reason for using a vacation flat or a hotel in the region of Saone-et-Loire is a visit of the oecumenic cloister Communauté de Taizé. This arranges oecumenic gatherings which are visited by youngsters of all over the world.
