„Terra incognita - Unknown area“: San Pietro in Apulien

It´s nearly just unbelievable that Apulia for a long time had the nick name „Terra incognita“. However more and more tourists fall prey to the charme of Southern Italy. Thereby above all San Pietro is a destination well worth the visit.

Until now San Pietro has only a bit of development to the aim of attracting tourists and thus the seeker of relaxation finds untouched nature, magnificent sand beaches and crystal clear water. You will also not find the often feared „Hotel shelters“. Instead of this there are some comfy holiday homes or holiday flats directly at the beach. To strecth out in the sun, to hear the murmuring of the Ionian Sea - this is holiday right from the beginning.

But San Pietro has also much too see. The stone houses with an age of several centureis which have been lived in in former times are very fascinating. There are also very old impressive olive trees also here.
You shouldn´t unconditionally miss the pilgrim´s church San Pietro di Castello. According to an old legend apostle Petrus disembarked here and also who is not especially interested in the holy bible will be impressed by the atmosphere.

However many tourists don´t want to stay the best weeks of the year exclusively on the beach, they rent a car in the hotel or the agency of  the holiday flat and explore the hinterland. This is minted by olive tree forests, wine growing and farming. Here the typical Apulian flair can be felt.

This is just a holiday of the outstanding type.
