San Marino – the tiny country of Italy

San Marino is a region of Italy and at the same time the most former region of the world. The history of the city can be traced back as long as to the year 300. The landscape with dense forests with a vegetation which is typical for areas of the Mediterrenean Sea with maple and pine trees,  bay and lavender bushes lets above all beat the hearts of those loving hiking higher

Tourists who are interested in the culture should visit the capital city San Marino (which has the same name as the country. The administration palace is especially worth to see. The defence towers which are located on three hills are very popular with tourists, there you have a breathtaking view on the city.

The ancient town which is surrounded by city walls on three directions has until now preserved its congeniality of the Medieval age. You should not miss a visit of the museum of torture in the capital. Many instruments of torture are exhibited here, which were used to maltreat heretics and sorcerers.

The most beautiful piece of ecclesiastical architecture which is located in San Marino is the  Basilika di San Marino. You can admire innumerable relics and statues of saints inside of this Lord´s House.

Holiday are extremely cheap at one of the numerous camping sites of San Marino, however you can find also many beautiful hotels here. The hospitality of the Italien people is legendary, tourists will surely well at home here. After all most people in San Marine make their living due to the tourism.
