Saalfelden - family-friendly place in the Pinzgau

Saalfelden is a town in the Salzburg country. It is situated in the picturesque Saalachtal which is framed by the ocean Steinerne Meer, the Kalkhochalpen and the Pinzgauer Grasbergen. Not far from the town you find the place Zell am See.

About 16,000 people are living in Saalfelden, a city which is oriented to tourism where a large part of the inhabitants are hosts with holiday apartments and small hotels. Vacationers can also book lodgings on farms. After the incorporation of the small place Leogang the region Saalfelden-Leogang presents itself as a holiday destination for families with children, active and rest-searching people.

The attractive scenery with many possibilities for walking, rafting or biking is complemented by nice places of interest, restful wellness offers as well as friendly, down-to-earth catering trade. The nice castles and churches – a lot of them built in the rococo or baroque style - are especially worth seeing in the Saalachtal and the municipal area Saalfelden.

A show mine is opened in summer for the visitors and the mining- and museum of local history is located in the centre. The little visitors are particularly close to the heart of the inhabitants. They can take part in many activities, while the parents find time to have some shopping or for a lap of golf.

The high ropes course and the open air pool at Ritzensee are beside the summer toboggan run haunts of the young guests. In winter the three skiing areas Hinterreit, Schantei and Biberg invite all snowy enthusiasts.
