Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest
When Romania is mentioned, many a cineaste thinks of Transylvania, of vampires and full moon nights; but don’t worry: you will neither need crosses nor wooden stakes nor garlic, even if you do visit this part of Romania. Dracula is long dead. And it does not have to be Transylvania for you to explore.

"If you only knew how beautiful my country is", the Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu once doted. He was right: Romania’s Black Sea coast tempts you with sun, water, beaches.

City trips
Two Romanian cities should be named here as interesting destinations for city vacationers: of course the Romanian capital Bucharest and Sibiu, the European Culture Capital of 2007. Sibiu, founded by German settlers, has maintained bilingualism until now and the charming mix of both cultures.

In Bucharest you should treat yourself to a walk along Calea Victoriei Street; not often does one see so many magnificent buildings so close to each other. In the 30ies of the 20th century, Bucharest was called “Little Paris”. Go there, take a hotel or pension room, a vacation house or apartment and go explore: the city is charming and is generous with attractions.
