The Bavarian Rhön

The Bavarian Rhön is a land of spas which consists of Bad Bocklet, Bad Brückenau, Bad Kissingen and Bad Neustadt, almost like a 5-leafed clover. Tradition is very important in all the cities and villages in the Rhön. The active spectrum ranges from the annual fair to the Rhön Candlemas to the Rhön carnival.

The Bavarian Rhön is happy and light-hearted. The beautifully cast landscapes, the untouched nature in form of lusty plateaus and mystic moors as well as the mysterious windings of the Frankish Saale River and the magnificently staged parks of the health resorts all evoke dreams.

Daring basalt knolls set mighty accents and contrasts to the grasslands scattered with flowers. Rippling rivers refresh your soul. The Bavarian Rhön is also home to a biosphere reservation with rare animals and plants – the almost extinct Rhön sheep has been able to reproduce very well here and with that keep up its existence.

The Rhön has a well signposted and panoramic street net, which makes it an excellent area for hiking. Mountain bikers love the varied routes along the Saale River. The Bavarian Rhön Nature Park fascinates its visitors with its grand mineral resources.

You can come close to the biosphere reservation on a farm or test herbal baths, hay baths and Kneipp walks at a wellness house. If you prefer the more elegant, you will very much enjoy one of the 4-star health hotels.
