Jerusalem - city of the extremes

Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, is situated in the scanty judaean mountains and on the edge of the West Jordan. The adjoining city Bethlehem which is named as a birthplace of Jesus Christ is separated from Jerusalem by a high, guarded wall. Once Jerusalem was founded as a „centre of the world religions“ and grants its visitors insights into a history which goes back 3000 years in the aftermath.

Christians, Muslims and Jews together view Jerusalem as a „holy town“ and divide peacefully the picturesque Old Town which is surrounded by high walls with strong gates. The narrow lanes, to old houses, busy Souks and small crafts enterprises provide the atmosphere of the Orient.

The meaning and uniqueness of the town which was appointed the world cultural heritage show the huge number of the sacred places, like the temple mountain “Tempelberg” with the Dome of the Rock, the Wailing Wall or the Via Dolorosa. To the walls of the Old Town surges a new, modern time which expresses itself in multicultural cities with chic bars, museums, galleries and hotels.

In the external town areas as well as near the city centre private holiday apartments are offered. The amusing contrast between history and modern age, the deferential coexistence of the religions and the numerous places of interest make Jerusalem to the most-visited town of Israel.
