Quedlinburg - Half-timbered houses and more on the edge of the nice Harz mountains

The city of Quedlinburg is situated picturesquely at the eastern alignments of the Harz mountains. It belongs to the UNESCO – World Heritage Site and hence to the biggest German expanse memorials.
Locals like guests can take pleasure in the historical city centre.

Above all the charm of the city is formed by the well-preserved half-timbered houses along the streets and lanes. Constructions from many epochs change a city visit into living historical lessons. The “Schlossberg of Quedlinburg” with the Romanesque collegiate church St. Servatius is the landmark of the town and can already be seen afar.

Beside this probably most important church Quedlinburg provides further worth seeing churches, the late-Gothic market church St. Benedikti, St. Mathildis, the Gothic church St. Nikolai as well as the probably oldest church St. Blasii, which is used today, nevertheless, only as a function- and concert room. In the gallery “Lyonel Feininger” the most important collection of the print graphics, water colours and drawings of this artist are to be seen.

Further cultural offers you will find in different theatres, museums and concert halls. The music summer of Quedlinburg takes place every year and fascinates many visitors with its wide-diversified programme.

Hotels and inns exist in different price ranges. Beside international meals the restaurants and bars of the town offer also culinary titbits of the area. So for a visit to this famous town it is advisable to take it as a day or weekend trip or as a holiday of several days’ duration.
