Potomac – In front of the gates of the American capital

The small town Potomac is located in the US State Maryland directly at the river Potomac. 
The community is surrounded by countless golf courses and counts to the suburbs of the capital of the Unites States of America, Washington D.C. Potomac is a perfect starting point in order to travel to the worth-seeing metropolis, which is located about 20 miles away.

Potomac possesses a nice selection of well-groomed holiday flats, motels and attractive hotels. From these you can capture perfectly the capital, because the connection is more than ideal, due to excellent road network. Washington is divided in 4 city districts. These are typical American, named in Northwest, Northeast, Southwest and Southeast.

If you visit the city for the first time, you will be surprised, because you will not find the typical skyscrapers like in other American large cities.

The reason is that it is not allowed to create a building which is higher than the Capitol. Nevertheless, there are 3 buildings which violate against this law, the Washington Monument, the tower of the old post office and the Washington National Cathedral. They have already been completed or planned before this strange law had been passed.

If you decide to rent a holiday flat, a pension, motel or a hotel in Potomac you have the possibility to enjoy the proximity to the large city but also the calm of the suburban idyll.
