Porto – Picturesque ancient town and traditional food

Porto is located at the Mouth of the Douro to the Atlantic Ocean in Northern Portugal. You start you holiday in a magnificent ancient town after having arrived at your hotel or holiday house.

The city centre of Porto is located at the Northern waterside of the Duoro. It is part of the UNESCO world cultural heritage. Stroll through the magnificient narrow streets let you be enchanted by the Igreja Santa Clara, the Torre dos Clérigos – the town´s landmark – or the Igreja de Santo Ildefonso. The cathedral with the Bishop´s square throwns over the Ribeira on the Terreiro da Sé.

You unconditionally should visit the bookstore Lello & Irmao. Not only the Neo-gothic face of the building – also the fantastic wooden nterior in the Art Nouveau is well worth seeing. The interior of the Café Majestic originates from the 1920s. The museums of the city allure you after a small break in your holiday house. The Musem Soares dos Reis, the Museu de Arte Contemporanea da Fundacao Serralves ort he Museu do Carro Eléctrico are awaiting your visit.

Lovers of water sports and the sun are attracted by the superb beaches. Fine-grained sand, the sparkling Sea – salt on the lips and sun on your skin: Beach holiday that way is real fun.

You should taste the typical wine – the Port wine – before your holiday in Northern Portugal ends. The traditional delicacies in the restaurants let no wish be unfulfilled and you surely will remember for a long time to your time in Porto.
