Palermo - silent witnesses of the past

Palermo, the capital of Sicily, bears many traces of the past. The former influence of the Normans and Arabs can still be seen today in many buildings and creates a charming city landscape. 

During your vacation, you should not miss visiting the many sights Palermo has to offer. To these belongs the Norman palace built during the 9th century. The palace is home to a beauty: the Capella Palatina. It was built in Norman-Arabic style and is decorated with many mosaics. 

Further evidence of Arabic architecture is the La Martorana church which originated in the Middle Ages. The Arabian influence is clearly perceptible in the four cupolas.

Palermo has more than just sights to offer. Palermo’s beach is popular with native and foreign visitors. The Monte Pellegrino mountain, which towers over everything, creates a fascinating panorama.
Palermo’s nightlife is also very diverse. The shops have late opening hours and shopping or promenading or a visit to the discos and clubs make sure your vacation in Palermo is full of variety.
