Paderborn, Lippe-East-Westphalia – holiday experience with all possibilities

In the north-east of the nice German federal state North Rhine-Westphalia the good city Paderborn with 140,000 inhabitants is situated. On account of its excellent position, immediately at the nature reserve “Eggegebirge” and the southern forest “Teutoburger Wald” it is a self-evident fact that here some flats, holiday apartments, pensions and hotels have established.

If you set off from Paderborn to the south you meet the nature reserve “Arnsberger Wald” and “Diemalsee” which North Rhine-Westphalia shares with Hesse. Paderborn owns quite a special small wonder of the nature. In the Pader-headwaters situated in the middle of the city centre of Paderborn are arising more than 200 small springs.

In different walled source-washbasins per second up to 9,000 litres of water reach the earth's surface and form the shortest river of Germany, the Pader which extend a total length of just 4 kilometres. Paderborn accommodates many architectural masterpieces.

A real eye-cacher is, in any case, the city hall of the town and above all the cathedral of Paderborn. The essential appearance of this church derives from the 13th century. The immense west tower of the cathedral reaches a proud height of 93 metres and overtops the whole city centre.

Paderborn still holds ready many more surprises for the visitors in a culinary, cultural or architectural sense. Moreover, a holiday apartment or a hotel in the city are suitable for an excursion to one of the already called nature reserves.
