Northern Iceland - Nature, fjords and mighty waterfalls

The Northern Iceland is famous as a very varied landscape. Riding tours on the *trittsicheren* Ice land horses are popular events.  Maybe this is the best way to familiarize yourself with the region. However naturally there is the possibility to reserve a hotel room at a village or at a boarding house which are nearly exclusively lead by the extremely friendly people of Iceland. It is possible to visit the magnificent landscape of this part of Iceland starting from the hotel in North Iceland. The fishing industry plays the most important role for gaining the daily income for the people in the Northern Iceland. Unconditionally you should taste the delicious, fresh fished fish!

The administration centre is called Akureyri and the largest city of Northern Iceland.  The Eyjafjördur, a fjord, which is surrounded by many mountains where the opportunities for skiing are marvelous are located in the near proximity of the many extremely charming small timber houses.

The Dettifoss waterfall in Northern Iceland is really breathtaking. He can be counted to be amongst the most powerful waterfalls of Iceland. The Myvatn is not far away, translated you would denominate it as being a "midge lake". Every holidaymaker can experience the reason for this name during summer.

Glaumbaer is the name of the tiny village in Northern Iceland. The Grassoden farm is located here which was inhabited until 1947 and which is nowadays accommodates an extremely well worth seeing museum for the culture and way of living in the Northern part of Iceland.
