Neu Isenburg – the Huguenot city

Neu Isenburg is a town with 35 400 inhabitants in the administrative district Offenbach, nearby the Rhine-Main metropolis Frankfurt. According to its central closeness and the immediate nearness to the Frankfurt airport Neu Isenburg notes down a high number of overnight stays. This results of the numerous pensions, apartments and hotels of the city.

When the Huguenots had to escape from France in 1699, they found a benefactor in the Earl of Isenburg. He assured them of freedom of worship and allowed them to settle down in the forest of “Dreieich”. In thanks the city received the name Neu Isenburg.

Today the townscape is embossed of modern buildings, but also tracks of the past of the Huguenots have been preserved. Cultural highlights take place in the Huguenot's hall. In summer Neu Isenburg changes into a coloured stage when while the “Summer Open Doors” you can listen to music of all different styles.

If you spend your holiday at a hotel, a pension or a holiday apartment in Neu Isenburg, you can find an oasis of silence in the city forest. Walking, jogging, table tennis or mini-golf are to be find on the programme. In the house of the city forest the children are becoming playfully acquainted with the nature. They can define animal tracks and watch homelike birds in the aviaries.

The zeppelin museum informs the visitor of the 40-year-old history of the probably most impressive aviation colossus.
