Michigan, area lakes and forests

Michigan lies in the southeast of the USA. The many rivers and lakes and the impressive waterfalls are characteristics of the region’s landscape. The main area of the State of Michigan is covered with forests.

These qualities ensure the ideal conditions for relaxing and recuperating. Swimming, boating, fishing or hiking all belong to the popular activities here. This also draws tourists, as the leisure time facilities in Michigan are more distinct than in other regions of the United States.

The pleasant climate also helps; it is not so hot during the summer months and in winter visitors can enjoy winter sport activities.  There are more than enough accommodations available; no matter if in a country-typical pension or in a luxury hotel, here everyone will be pampered during their vacation. 

Michigan is also known as the leading State in automobile production. Detroit is the best known „auto city“ in the world. Here, in Detroit, is where Henry Ford once founded his company. 
The Isle Royale National Park in the upper part of the lake, the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore with its beautiful shores and swamps or the many historic places which still remind one of the days of the pioneers all belong to the famous sights in Michigan.

The road network in Michigan is well constructed. Several highways and a wide railway system all lead to diverse places so that vacationers on a round tour of Michigan can reach all important points easily.
