Macedonia, Greece (Mainland)

Macedonia - between history and progress

The Macedonian region stretches over the northeast part of Greece. The millennial culture landscape, once tightly connected to today’s city of Macedonia and the Balkan Peninsula, still draws visitors from all over Europe.

The diverse, charming landscapes of the Chalkidiki peninsula and its headlands Cassandra, Sithonia and Athos are especially popular. The autonomous monk republic Athos is not open to visitors but the mighty Athos Mountain can be seen very well from Sithonia.
