Jazz on the Mississippi Delta

If you want to take your vacation in the US State of Louisiana, you will find many possibilities for spending the night in every small city (and in the larger ones in any event). Bed & Breakfast accommodations, hotels, many motels, but also vacation apartments and houses can be found in large assortment in Louisiana.

Although it is well worth while to visit diverse cities spread around the State in Louisiana. Shreveport in the northwest for example or Monroe in the northeast, Alexandria and, of course, famous Baton Rouge (the capital) and New Orleans, a melting pot for many cultures. 

This harbor city on the Mississippi delta (Gulf of Mexico) makes one think of jazz, gospel, Cajun and blues as well as of buskers and the many music bars. And then there are the many fests and fairs and the hospitality of the Southerners – and inherently the tourist will want to lengthen his stay.

Louisiana’s flat to hilly landscapes are good for nice walks or hikes, on which you can spot turtles and maybe even alligators. Louisiana is also known for its golf route with six challenging courses and for the possibility of tax free shopping.

While Shreveport is an industry center, traditional Baton Rouge invites you to a visit. In the hinterland of this city northwest of New Orleans, there are swamps and bayous as well as magnolia plantations.
