East Westphalia - Lippe – The gate to the forest Teutoburger Wald

Here it is about a 6.518 square kilometre region in the north-east of the German federal state North Rhine-Westphalia. With it East Westphalia – Lippe encloses well a fifth of the total area of its federal state and accommodates, among the rest, the cities Bielefeld, Paderborn, Gütersloh and Minden. On account of these big magnitudes it is a matter of course that the region disposes countless holiday apartments, summer cottages, pensions and hotels.

Besides, the visitor is spoilt for choice between holiday lodging in one of big cities or in one of the small contemplative municipalities. If you are not able to decide you can also simply combine the named options with each other. The region offers many places of interest and regional centres of attraction. Even one of the most famous German tourist attractions is little patch.

The memorial Hermannsdenkmal was ceremonially initiated in 1875. This in total 53.46 metre high building should remind of the „battle of the Teutoburger Wald” in the year 9 A.D. In this the Cheruscan prince Arminius could provide the deciding defeat of the enemies the so-called Roman legions which were led by Publius Quintilius.

The Hermannsdenkmal is situated on a height of 386 metres and offers a breathtaking view onto the Teutoburger Wald. Furthermore the region offers countless castles and manor-houses, medieval streets of houses and many worth seeing urbanistic features.

This is only a small detail of what a holiday in a holiday apartment or a hotel in the region has to offer in the region of East Westphalia.
