Un'estate Italiana – an Italian summer

The trip leads to the Italian Adriatic. Certainly we packed swimming things and beach mat. However, in Lignano Sabbiadoro it would be an iniquity to think only of bathing. Arriving at the flat the point is to develop a plan for the following days. Absolutely, a hotel or a holiday apartment would have also been possible, however, this time we have decided for the flat. The Italian summer smiles at us, beyond the church St Zacharias, a wonderful construction of the 16th century.

A cappuccino on the Terrazza al Mare lets us receive a first impression of the town on the peninsula. Busy activity, coloured summer colours under a brilliant, cloudless sky. Children eating an ice cream, parents taking photos, locals are hurrying – a cheerful bustle surrounds us.

How might it have looked here when everything was still a swampland? Only a few fishermen lived here – seasonally -, before the tourism discovered the spot. In Lignano today at the beach bath mat string together, shining bodies overcast with solar protection luxuriate in the sun, in peaceful coexistence of all nations.

Every hotel, every summer cottage, every pension offers the sun-seekers a lodging for taking a rest of the good Vino, fantastic Italian food and the dreamlike Italian summer – if you really want to recover from it.

In this summer we decide to addict completely to the sun and the atmosphere of Lignano Sabbadioro, look for shade under the holms and to hold off on the inspection of the numerous Italian cultural treasures to the next year.
