Lienz – charming center of East Tyrol

The city of Lienz is the touristic centre of East Tyrol. The tiny village with only 13,000 inhabitants is surmounted by the Lienzer Dolomite Alps. A lush vegetation flourishes in a nearly Mediterranean climate, which caters for an especially attractive scenerey of the quiet location.

The four churches of Lienz dominate the cityscape in the valley. Beyond that a bulky, medieval castle, the castle Bruck, elates which has been built in the 13th century. The two-storey castle chapel, museum of local history and the gallery where a patio café is connected.

The Lieb castle is located at the main place, the meeting place of inhabitants and holidaymakers which has been built in the style of the renaissance era. It is enframes by boutiques, traditional costumes shops, restaurants and cafés with seating under the blue sky. Tourists will find both in the village as well as in direct proximity accommodation in hotels, holiday flats and guest houses – open during the whole year. A summer college in the fields of art and craft is stages at the historic Tammer castle.  

Guests of the city will find suitable activities during every season, like hiking, climbing, rafting and mountainbiking, skiing in the ski areas Hochstein and Zettersfeld or playing golf on one of the most exclusive golf links of Tyrol, the 26-hol golf links „Dolomitengolf“. An indoor swimming pool and an open air bath are opened seasonal.
