Laufen – a dreamy tiny village in the Berchtesgadener Land

Laufen in the Berchtesgadener Land is a historically important city in the Bavarian alpine upland. This region contributes to the perfect relaxation with an idyllic location, framed by lush-green meadows and only some kilometres away from the impressive mountains. The city impresses with some sights only  a stone´s throw from Salzburg away.   

The old town hall in the dreamy historic ciyt centre as well as the Rupoertus square which is located directly on the opposite side with the well preserved community centre.
The former monastery of the Capuchin is also impressive. The corresponding church of the monastery is directly located at the former burial grounds which is now a park and memorial place. The Gothic hall church „Laufener Stiftskirche“ is known as the most ancient one of this type in Southern Germany.

 

The ancient city centre invites with its narrow streets for pausing and strolling. A municipal park which is planted with lindens, sycamore trees and maple which are partly more than 100 years old assures much of calmness and relaxation.     

The whole area around the Bavarian city is very suitable for hiking and biking. Thereby the  lake of Abtdorf is very popular.
