Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – The capital not only in geographic sense !

Canary Islands are connected by the layman with Gran Canaria and it`s capital Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Here in Las Palmas nearly all is accomodated with the tourist in mind. Regardless being a, the pension, the vacation home or the holiday flat which doesn`t leave any wishes unconsidered or the large shopping malls near the harbour which invite the tourist to take valuable canarian souvenirs to home.

It is nearly unbelievable but the locals have fun with tourism. Nowhere else you can see local people like here – they have fun and enjoy it when they have tourists in their vicinity. They are anytime making an effort to accomodate the wishes of the travellers, not only the people in Las Palmas leave an enduring friendly impression behind for the visitors. Also the many sights have to be kept in mind unconditionally.

Because Las Palmas delivers much more than sights alone.

For example the cathedral Santa Ana built, with five side chapels, in 1497 is an impressive building of the city. But even the columbus museum can absorb a whole day of your holiday because of its size and variety.
Besides the high-life of the tourist stronghold Las Palmas and its vacation flats, vacation homes and hotels there are many places indeed in which you can enjoy the nature and silence.  For example the small park in the south of the city. Here you can find admirable beds of roses of the fortress „Castilo de la Luz“. This fortress accomodates a wonderful maritime museum, which you should visit unconditionally.
