Lanzarote, Canary islands

 

Fuerteventura’s neighbouring island Lanzarote is said to be the driest of all Canary Islands. Tourists will already marvel at the barren landscape of the mountain ranges when they approach the capital city Arrecife. But of course these are just superficial impressions. Lanzarote’s actual treasures are the white beaches of the tourist centres Playa del Carmen, Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise in the south.

These recently emerged tourist resorts were closed to mass tourism until a few years ago because no house on the island was allowed to be higher than two floors. But today, the hotels along the beach promenade, which is flanked by bars and discos, have become de rigueur in Puerto del Carmen.

Costa Teguise is the perfect place for families to relax. A wide indulgence programme and an all-day child care make sure that the parents also find peace and relaxation. Tourists preferring to live in seclusion will also find a place to stay in Lanzarote, for example in a Spanish finca or a holiday home.

These are scattered over the entire island so that visitors will find the perfect ambience for every sunrise with a nice glass of the local wine. The advantage of a private flat is obvious: the friendly contact person to the local culture and insider tips is right on the spot.
