La Gomera, Canary islands

 

Traditionally, you can best approach the second smallest Canary Island on a ferry or on an inner-Canary flight. The advantage is clear: without international non-stop flights, all-inclusive tourists always had to make a detour round Gomera so that local culture and nature are still pristine.

Thus, Gomera is the perfect island for nature aficionados who want to feel like explorers in absolute tranquillity and remoteness. Of course, every explorer needs an appropriate base. The small, white houses in the international assortment of holiday homes are unique to Gomera and attract the attention of visitors as soon as they arrive in the marina in the capital city Gomera.

They also beautify the mighty mountain ranges. But tourists can also explore the surroundings from private guesthouses, for example the world heritage site of the national park Garajonay. The island’s highest point (1487m) is a perfect place for watching the numerous gorges.

Where they do not flow into the sea through small bays, they form quiet valley landscapes like the Valle Gran Rey. Tourists can hike through this paradise on guided tours. But active sportspeople can also climb into the heights of the mountains or dive into the depths of the sea.

In comfortable hotel rooms, you can relax and have a rest. If you hear unknown twitter underneath your balcony, it could also be the local whistle language “La Silba”, telling news from the neighbourhood.
