The Kvarner Bay - lively center of the Croatian Adriatic

The Kvarn Bay takes up the northern part of the Croatian Adriatic coast. A charming island world with a mild, Mediterranean climate and tuneful, well known names like Rab, Cres or Krk draw tourists from all over Europe during the entire year.

The spacious bay is bordered by the Istrian Peninsula and the Croatian mainland. Protecting mountains hold off cold winds and winter cold snaps. Already during the early 19th century, aesthetes, noblemen and politicians came to the Kvarn Bay to enjoy their summer in such elegant resorts as Opatia and Lovran. The magnificent summer houses and gardens of these days are open to the public today and show a hint of past mundane elegance. 

Visitors of the Kvarn Bay can spend their vacation in charming hotels and familiar pensions which are available on the coast and on the islands.

The main locality of the Kvarn Bay is Rijeka, the third largest city of Croatia. It has a long and diverse history and is one of Croatia’s economic and cultural centers today which will enthuse you with museums and many art galleries, important religious buildings and an enchanting historic Old Town.

From Rijeka a coastal street leads to the southern bathing resorts and to the islands. The ferry harbor has routes to the islands and to Italy.
