Kołobrzeg, Baltic Coast and Pommern

Kolobrzeg, Baltic coast – holiday in East Pomerania

Kolobrzeg is the Polish name of the formerly German town Kolberg. It is situated in the north of the European state Poland. On the Baltic coast Kolobrzeg today is an important tourist centre and a fishing town with about 45,000 inhabitants. It is to be owed to the big choice of holiday apartments, summer cottages and hotels that this number almost doubles in the high season.

Although the town was destroyed to a good 90 percent during the battle around East Pomerania in 1945, many historical constructions have been preserved until even today. Some of the buildings have completely reconstructed, others had to recondition. The cathedral of Kolberg is probably one of the most striking buildings of the town. The impressive church was first mentioned in 1316.

Unfortunately, this sanctuary was assassinated to the war. Nevertheless, many bricks of the church were composed again and appointed to a Lady basilica in 1986 by the then-mayor pope, Johannes Paul II. However, not only the town itself has to provide some attractions.

The country of Kolobrzeg fascinates by its diversity. Beach lovers can spend long walks and restful hours under the Polish sun. If you would like to create your holiday days actively, you can explore, for example, starting from your holiday apartment, the summer cottage or your hotel by a bicycle and reconnoitre the wonderful bicycle routes along the Baltic coast.
