Kiel - harbor flair and modern metropolis

Kiel, the capital of Schleswig-Holstein in northern Germany, is especially formed by its closeness to the sea – the Baltic Sea. There you are offered a city trip and a beach vacation all at the same time. 

The market place forms the city center: from there eight streets lead in different directions. The Old Town is on a peninsula and offers winding streets and old markets. There you will also find the Nikolai Church, the castle and the Warleberger Hof city museum. 
The former botanical garden is in the castle garden and is a very popular park.

Kiel’s landmark is the 106 meter high city hall tower whose observation deck can be reached either by stairs or by lift. From there you have a view over the entire city and harbor. 
A highlight of a vacation in Kiel is certainly an excursion around the harbor on the Kiel fjord.

Kiel is also made something special by its many theaters, cinemas and museums. The old university town is molded by students and popular with young people.

The city is ready for tourists and offers hotels, pensions, youth hostels and camping grounds with their own beaches either within or outside of the city center.
