Holidays in Istria - an adventure holiday
The still young republic Croatia has made great progress in the last few years and is now one of the Continent’s most beautiful holiday destinations. One of the most popular tourist regions is Istria, a peninsula in the Adriatic Sea in the west of the country. The appearance of the region is characterised by beautiful nature with Mediterranean fauna.
Furthermore, visitors will find many traces of Roman settlements. The peninsula’s west is developed for tourists to a large extent. Guests have the possibility to find accommodation in a hotel, holiday home or one of the many camping grounds. Near the town Porec lies the country’s largest holiday region.

The town
Pula, on the other hand, is the biggest town in Istria and is located in the north of the peninsula. Since the town was once a centre of Roman culture, today there are still many antique constructions to be found, such as a huge amphitheatre, a triumphal arch and an Augustus temple.
Some of Istria’s scenic attractions are the fascinating stalactite caves of Baredine Jama, the nature park of the Bionic Islands and the Lim fjord, also called Limski Fjord, which is famous for fish and mussels.
