Island Ciovo / Dalmatia – quite a special smell

Between the cities Trogir and Split you find the peaceful island Ciovo. The island has a surface of about 15.3 x 3.5 kilometres. Primarily friendly locals have built small weekend houses on the island to escape from the noise and the brisk activity of the town. They like to share this silence, however, with the visitors of the few but very nicely invested hotels, summer cottages and holiday apartments of the island.

Ciovo is affected by the smell of the many herbs and medical plants which are growing there. On the island an evergreen wooded bush of cypresses, pines, olives and figs is grown. Year after year the mild Mediterranean climate draws curious vacationers to Ciovo and its surroundings. Beside endless walks snorkelling and diving is also very hip.

On account of the straightforward size it tenders to explore the island by the bicycle. There are enough places of interest. You cannot only enjoy the Croatian culture and kitchen on the island itself. The city Trogir is the gate to the island. It is connected with the island by a drawbridge.

Trogir and the worth seeing and the about 15 km distant city Split should be approached as a small highlight from the holiday apartment, the summer cottage or the hotel. If you like to die this impressive day away and to lose yourself in the nightlife there are enough possibilities in both towns.
