Honolulu – the city at Diamond head

Honolulu is the capital city of the 50th county of the United States of America and on the island archipelago of Hawaii. The city itself is located on the 64 km long and 42 km wide island of Oahu. With approximately 75 percent of the Hawaiian population Oahu is the main island of Hawaii and has a perfect touristic infrastructure.

Uncounted vacation flats, motels and hotels are available for the visitor. In the well-kown district Waikiki there are approximately 38,000 hotel rooms available at the moment. Behind the sand beach of the same name the extrinct volcanoes Diamond Head and Punchbowl are standing up spectacularly. But Honolulu has much more to offer than hotels, motels and vacation homes of all classes.

In the year 1941 the harbour of the city, the well-known Pearl Harbour, was attacked by the Japanese. A visit of this facility will offfer an interesting glimpse into the situation of that time.

The mostly known victim of this attack, the USS Arizona, can even nowadays be seen shimmering in the flat water of the harbour, from a bridge which is floating there.

Oahu is being a very suitable origin for a roundtrip on Hawaii due to its International Airport. Eventually nearly every of the larger islands has its own airport with daily flight connections. Before leaving Honolulu you shouldn´t miss to view the great panorama of this unique city.
