The Bergische Land is a region which has arisen originally from the historical territory of the dukedom Berg. It is situated in the German federal state North Rhine-Westphalia and extends to the city triangle Remscheid-Solingen-Wuppertal, the district Mettmann, Leverkusen, parts of the Rhine-Sieg-district, to the district of the Rheinisch-Bergischen and the district of the Oberbergischen.
Due to these extensive regional spread it is a matter of course that a sufficient number of holiday apartments, summer cottages, pensions and hotels is available. Thanks to its beautiful natural landscapes and worth seeing towns the Bergische Land enjoys a circle of local recreation people which is getting larger and larger also of short break tourists who do not only arrive from the germann federal republic.

The Romantik Waldhotel is a heaven of peace and quiet. Though only a few minutes by car from Cologne´s city centre and the trade fair centre, it lies at the forest´s edge, nestling in a large estate of green lawns through which a small stream flows. The hotel is spacious with individually styled club and function-rooms and tastefully appointed rooms and suites, which never fail to impress guests.

The grotto Aggertalhöhle near Engelskirchen which was discovered in 1773 is an example of the variety of the regional places of interest of the Bergische Land. This rock den reaches a length of 1071 metres from which 270 metres provide as a length of the show grotto area. During a guided tour through the Aggertalhöhle warm clothes should not be missing, because all year round it shows a temperature of six to eight degrees centigrade.
As a town visit you can go in for an excursion to Wuppertal. Just because of the cable railway which was approved in 1901 and in use until today the town is always worth a visit. However, this is only a section for using a summer cottage, a holiday apartment, a pension or a hotel in the Bergische Land.
