Heidelberg- university town with Baroque flair

Heidelberg is one of the best known German cities in the world. It lies on the picturesque Neckar River in the southwest of the country. Visitors of this city especially associate Heidelberg with the renowned university, the town’s landmark, the Heidelberg Castle and the excellently renovated Baroque Old Town with many points of interest and charming, quiet corners.  

Its favored location in the sunniest part of Germany makes Heidelberg’s landscape bloom in a true flush of color, which especially shoes itself in spring and autumn and invites you to a relaxing vacation and cultural experiences.

The castle lies high above the Neckar River on the Koenigsstuhl and holds many attractions, for example the „Large Barrel“ which is guarded by the statue of the gnome Perkeo. You can reach the Koenigsstuhl with the Heidelberg mountain railway.

The „Old Bridge“ with its gate and bridge monkey, is one of the most beautiful bridges of the city.
The Baroque Old Town is dominated by countless religious buildings and historical places with charming fountains. The university buildings, especially the library, the Hotel zum Ritter and the Karl’s Gate are all prominent structures. 

Tourists are drawn here by diverse art exhibitions, galleries, museums, parks and by the longest pedestrian zone in Europe with shops and restaurants. Accommodations of all kinds are offered throughout the year in Heidelberg, no matter if in a vacation home, inns or small hotels.
