Hamburg-St.Pauli, City Hamburg

Hamburg-St.Pauli ? The gate to the wide world

Gangways, the reeperbahn, Herbert Street – these are synonyms for Hamburg’s best known district, St. Pauli. The reeperbahn is not just a nightclub district, a large amount of pubs, discos, taverns and cafes also offer a wide variety for visitors. This is where nightlife takes place which not only consists of “certain establishments”.

The gangways – they were built in 1839 and served as moorages for steamships. Now the harbor tour ships start from here as well as the ship liners to the closer regions of Blankensee and Finkenwerder.

A visit to the two ship museums „Rickmer Rickmers“ and „Cap San Diego“ should also be very interesting.
This district is known for its many old dwellings which need to be renovated. The larger part of the population consists of younger people who absolutely love the district with its many parties and bars, cafes and discos.

But St. Pauli’s location is also central. You can reach Hamburg’s city center by subway within a few minutes. However ship liners also bring their guests to more remote places.

St. Pauli, the pulsating district of Hamburg, should be a part of every city tour.
