Greece dreamy island groups

Over 3000 inhabited and uninhabited islands can be found in Greece. They are separated into different archipelagos.
The  Saronic Archipelago is known for fishing and art. The many bathing coves and cloisters belong to its best known points of interest. It can be reached by ferry. Methana is an especially liked excursion destination for nature lovers due to its volcano regions and thermal spas. 
The Northern Sporades consist of about 80 islands. A recommended sight is the National Ocean Park in northern Alonnissos. Many hotels and vacation apartments with an excellent view are offered for your vacation here or on the other islands.

The Dodecanese Islands and the Southern Sporades lie in the Aegean Sea. The popular island of Rhodos belongs to the 170 islands, of which only 30 are inhabited. The island, formed by mountains and steep coasts is a UNESCO world culture heritage site with its impressive city walls and grandmaster palace.

The Cyclades lie in the southern Aegean. The different museums on Mykonos belong to the popular leisure time activities. Delos, with its ancient temples and archaeological excavation sites, is a world culture heritage site.

The well known island of Korfu belongs to the Ionian Islands. The island, formed by green, luscious vegetation, offers many accommodations, hiking routes and sights like the Achilleion or the Serbian War Mausoleum. You will find beautiful beaches and many points of interest on Kefalonia.
Furthermore, Greece also offers small waterfalls which are worth seeing on its island Samos in the northeast Aegean. Ikaria is mainly formed by the Atheras Mountains. 

The islands surrounding Crete are uninhabited and may only be visited with permission as these serve as nature preserves. Crete itself is Greece’s largest island. There, you will find many sights, vacation apartments and species-rich flora.
