Graz – meeting point of different cultures and epochs

Not the fact only that Graz was affiliated into the list of the UNESCO world cultural heritage in 1999 feature the capital city of the “Styria” to something completely special. Numerous places of interest decorate the cultural capital of Europe of 2003. While taking a ramble through the Old City you can discover numerous buildings of the Gothic, the baroque and the art nouveau which outbid in beauty.

Warily inserted modern architecture is well integrated into the many-sided historical buildings and lanes. The "Platz am Eisernen Tor “is worth a visit. The variety of the city of Graz also appears in the fact that there you find different cultures, in particular Romanesque, Slavic, Germanic and Hungarian.

About 270000 inhabitants live on 353 m about the sea level. The first documentary mention of the second largest town Austria was found out in the year 1128, later it is a mighty fortress of the Holy Roman Empire.

A close net of public means of transportation is only one example of a town with the most different environmental projects. The churches, museums and galleries pay a visit as well as the different theatres and concert halls.

Numerous cultural events as for example the castle concerts or the styrian autumn offer art at a high stage. About 130 hotels of all price ranges exist and offer an excellent service for guests from near and far.
