The Region Gauteng is one of the nine provinces of Southern Africa. It is a part of Transvaal and exists in this form since 1994. The name of Gauteng comes from the language of Sesotho and is called place of gold. The region got this name because a very successful gold-industry has originated 1886 on the basis of the gold-findings. Here is also the cradle of the mankind, an area of approximately 50.000 hectares, which is to admire among the world-culture-heritage. Gauteng is with approximately 9 million people after KwaZulu-Natal the second usually populated locality of South Africa. Since Johannesburg, the capital of South Africa is located here, Gauteng is the richest region of South Africa.
