At the foot of Zugspitze mountain in Werdenfelser Land lies Garmisch-Partenkirchen, one of the loveliest leisure and recreation areas in the Bavarian Alps. The location became world famous thanks to the 1938 Winter Olympics and the 1978 Alpine Ski World Championship and is still considered to be the winter sports capital of Germany.
