Friedrichshafen – Cultural and Technical Centre at Lake Constance

Friedrichshafen is a chief town in the South of the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The location at Lake Constance, the mild climate and the various objects of interests you find in the city and its neighbourhood, make Friedrichshafen an industrial site as well as an important tourist centre.

Many hotels, boarding-houses, holiday-apartments and camping sites offer a great choice of accommodations to visitors who want to spend their vacation in this region. Symbol of the city is the baroque Minster of the former monastery of Hofen. The complete institution was rebuilt into a castle and is now a popular attraction of Friedrichshafen.

Also long walks along the wonderful lakeside path, which leads to the nature reserve of Eriskirchen, are recommendable.
The city itself is located directly at the Lake Constance circular route, so it is a perfect starting point for hikes around the “Swabian Sea”.

Also the School Museum, the Fire Brigade Museum and the Zeppelin Museum are worth to be visited. In the last named you can visit parts of a former Zeppelin. Many of them were built in Friedrichshafen, also the famous Hindenburg.

Another highlight for visitors are the various boat tours on Lake Constance and a flight over the city in a – compared to the giants of the years between 1920 and 1930 – small zeppelin.
